Medieval Africa? Re-thinking early African history in comparative perspectives
“Medieval Africa? Re-thinking early African history in comparative perspectives,” the fourth conference in The Middle Ages in the Wider World project, will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the Alumni House on the UC Berkeley campus. Keynote speakers will be Michael Gomez (New York University) and Ann B. Stahl (University of Victoria). A complete program is now available.

A very limited number of travel subsidies (up to a maximum of $350 if traveling from northern California or up to a maximum of $450 if traveling from southern California) are available. Graduate students will be given priority in the awarding these subsidies. To apply, write a brief email to email@example.com no later than October 10 with 1) a statement of your commitment to attend the conference on November 3; 2) the financial constraints that would be ameliorated through the grant of a travel subsidy.
